Duluth Public Arts Commission chooses and displays regional artwork for first Duluth International Airport Rotation exhibition
[DULUTH, MN] The Duluth Public Arts Commission (DPAC) hung new Jamey Penney-Ritter illustrations at the Duluth International Airport (DIA) as a part of the DIA Rotation exhibition.
The Penney-Ritter display contains travel-inspired colorful, modern illustrations of locales in and around Duluth. Jamey Penney-Ritter, illustrator and owner of Bemused Gallery and Studio in Washburn, WI, creates regionally-themed posters, magnets, stickers, and collectibles. Penney-Ritter’s displayed work can be seen at the DIA. The exhibition contains 32 of Penney-Ritter’s prints in eight display boxes, which will be on display for several months.
The DIA Rotation exhibition seeks to share Duluth’s wealth of public art and artists with visitors and locals alike, as well as adding a significant cultural layer to the DIA’s architecture.
DPAC will continue to accept applications on an ongoing basis for the Duluth International Airport Rotating Exhibition space. There will be 1-2 exhibitions organized each year. Exhibitions may be a solo artist’s work or a group of artists’ work.
The Mission of the Duluth Public Arts Commission is to support public art as a community investment by preserving and promoting art in public places, and to support public art activities that benefit the residents of Duluth; to encourage partnerships that further the awareness of beauty in our community and to support our city’s environment through public art.
For more information about the DIA Rotation exhibition, please contact Eleanor Bacso, Economic Developer, (218) 730-5310.
