Lincoln Park Resource Center Community Garden soft opening, Saturday, October 29
[Duluth, MN] The community is invited to celebrate the soft opening of the Lincoln Park Resource Center Community Garden, located at 2832 W. Third St, Duluth, on Saturday, October 29 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In addition to a Halloween costume contest, barbecue, and trick-or-treating, participants will have a chance to provide input on a mural at the site.
The Lincoln Park Resource Center Community Garden was an August recipient of a Love Your Block grant through the City of Duluth. The Love Your Block program supports small-scale, resident-led projects and encourages innovation and experimentation to reduce blight through resident and government partnership.
“It’s always really rewarding to see these Love Your Block grant projects come to fruition,” says Deputy Fire Chief Jon Otis. “These projects are making such an impact on lifting the neighborhoods they exist in, significantly reducing blight and bringing the people who live here together in a real and meaningful way. The City is so thankful for these residents who are stepping up to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods through the Love Your Block initiative.”
To date, the Love Your Block program has funded more than $18,000 across thirteen resident-led project sites in Lincoln Park and Central Hillside.
