SUBJECT: Landlord Notification
BY: Mike Tusken, Patrol Division-Deputy Chief
NATURE OF INCIDENT: Landlord Notification
CASE NO.:
INCIDENT DATE: 9/8/2010
INCIDENT TIME:
INCIDENT LOCATION: Duluth
The Duluth Police Department is committed to innovation in policing and continuous service improvement. In that regard we have identified a need to increase our communication with landlords about police calls to their properties. Due to the sheer volume of police calls to rental properties we simply do not have the resources to notify every landlord of police calls to their properties. We are excited to announce that over the last 16 months we have been working with the Omega Group Incorporated to provide an innovative landlord e-mail notification system of police calls to their property.
Chief Gordon Ramsay said “This initiative is one of our more exciting community policing projects and has the potential to have a tremendous impact. We’ve been working with landlords for years in an effort to keep our neighborhoods a good place to live and we have struggled with providing them with timely information. This new system will no doubt have a positive impact on our City and will be a model for others to follow.”
This system will allow landlords and property managers to sign up for email notices when police respond to their property.
What does a landlord e-mail notification mean?
This is a notification that a 911 call has occurred at your property. You will receive all data that is considered public record to include date, time, type of incident and disposition code of the incident.
Through this innovative program landlords will receive important information on their property that will improve our neighborhoods.
You must be the property owner or property manager to be eligible to receive the notifications.
