Duluth Workforce Development offers support for career training; financial assistance for childcare also available
[DULUTH, MN] – Duluth Workforce Development’s adult career training programs are currently enrolling qualified students for training in career fields that have the largest economic impacts in the City of Duluth and surrounding region.
“There’s never a bad time to review your options and start a new career,” said DWD Director Elena Foshay. “As a partner in CareerForce, DWD has a unique capacity to help people pay for their training, connect to paid internships in their chosen field, and help them find employment once they’ve concluded their training. With the postsecondary child care grant that the state of Minnesota is offering, now really is the best time to explore a new career because you could potentially continue your education with significant financial support.”
Career training programs and paid internships support careers in healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, construction, transportation, and more.
The deadline to apply for spring semester Career Pathway training is December 27, so residents should act fast. Participants must be over age 18. Other eligibility requirements apply, and potential applicants can learn more about the application process by contacting CareerForce in Duluth at (218) 302-8400, online at https://duluthmn.gov/workforce-development/application-for-services/, or stopping by at 402 W. First Street. More information about the post-secondary child care grant can be found on the Minnesota Office of Higher Education website at http://www.ohe.state.mn.us/mPg.cfm?PageID=140 or through college financial aid offices.
