Individual Arrested for Committing Multiple Burglaries

At approximately 10:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, Duluth Police received a tip of the location of 38-year-old Matthew Mercer. The tip directed officers to an apartment in the 700 block of E 1st St. After multiple failed attempts to have Mercer exit the residence, Officers entered the building and utilized a Hermantown Police Department's K9 to locate Mercer, who barricaded himself in a room.

Mercer was arrested and lodged at the St. Louis County Jail for his Warrants and pending charges of Obstructing Legal Process, and multiple counts of burglary. This is still an ongoing investigation as more follow up in multiple burglaries are being done.

Good work by A Shift and to Hermantown Police Department for assisting in this call and holding Mercer responsible for committing multiple burglaries in our community.
