Superior Street to undergo make over

The City of Duluth is planning to mill and pave Superior Street between 10th Ave East and 21st Ave East next week starting on September 16, 2010.

Milling operations between 10th Ave and 14th Ave East will be done under traffic. Access to businesses and residents will be available during the entire project.

Closure of west bound Superior Street between 14th Ave East and 21st Ave East is anticipated for about one week to complete the milling and paving. The east bound lane will remain open to traffic. This work will then be followed with milling and paving on the east bound lane leaving the west bound lane open. DTA buses, ISD 709 buses, and local residents will have street access during the repairs. Other through traffic will be detoured. North and south bound traffic will have access on the avenues.

Motorists are reminded that 19th Ave East (between Superior Street and 8th Street) is currently closed for rehabilitation of the concrete pavement, pedestrian ramp improvements, and catch basin rehabilitation.

The City appreciates the public's patience and cooperation.  Motorists are advised to drive carefully and follow posted detours.
