EVERY CHILD READY DULUTH COALITION TO HOST “FAMILY FEST” AT THE DEPOT 

Free Activities for Kids & Resources for Caregivers 

 

DULUTH, Minn. – Families of young children ages birth to five are invited to Every Child Ready Duluth Family Fest at The St. Louis County Depot on Saturday, April 1st, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Every Child Ready Duluth Family Fest will feature free entertainment for children and resources for caregivers to help children build the skills they need to be school-ready.

The event has been organized by Every Child Ready Duluth: a collaborative led by the Duluth Public Library, aimed at ensuring that every Duluth child is ready for kindergarten. This is the event’s second year.

Every Child Ready Duluth Family Fest Lineup:

  • Opening and closing with Mishomis Ojibwe drumming
  • 10:30am and 11:30am Music Together mini classes
  • 11:15am Story Time with Family Freedom Center
  • 10:30am Family yoga with Marcia Rienhardt
  • 12:00pm-12:30pm Mishomis Ojibwe drumming presentation
  • 12:45pm and 1:30pm Mini Ballet Classes
  • 10:00am-1:00pm – Duluth Children’s Museum play area
  • 10:00am-2:00pm – Free Train Museum admission

Parking for Family Fest attendees will be free in The Depot lot (west of the building) from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

In addition, the following community organizations will be offering free children’s activities and resources to help children become school ready: Lincoln Park Children & Family Collaborative, All of Us Research Program, Masonic Children's Clinic for Communication Disorders, The Human Development Center, ISD 709 Schools Early Childhood programs (including ECFE, Headstart, Family Navigators and more), Insure Duluth, St. Louis County Public Health and Economic Support, Northland Foundation, First Witness, Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA) Early Headstart, YWCA Duluth, Essentia Pediatrics, First Ladies of the Hillside, Safe Kids MN and Proctor/Hermantown Early Childhood programs

“We are excited to bring Family Fest back for a second year. I love that it really demonstrates how much our community comes together in support of families with young children and improving school readiness. We hope this event helps parents and caregivers connect with services and resources, learn new things, and have a fun day of playing and learning with their little ones,” said Duluth Public Library Early Literacy Librarian Carmella Hatch.
