FINAL UPDATE:

20-year-old Duluth resident Leo Buxbaum died from injuries related to a motorcycle crash. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family, friends, and loved ones.

UPDATE:

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Monday, June 12, Duluth Police responded to West Arrowhead Road for a report of a motorcycle crash. Initial investigation shows the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck another vehicle, and crashed into a pole. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of impact and died immediately from injuries related to the incident. The name of the victim will be released as soon as next of kin is notified.

The road is still closed as this investigation continues. We anticipate the road will be open within the next hour.

The Duluth Police Department is investigating a traffic fatality on West Arrowhead Road. West Arrowhead Road will be closed westbound from Kenwood Avenue and eastbound from Rice Lake Road as we conduct our investigation. We encourage the public to take alternative routes. This remains an active and ongoing investigation and no more information will be released at this time.
