Glenwood Street paving project starts this week

The City of Duluth will be paving Glenwood Street between 43rd Ave and Jean Duluth Road this week as part of the Mayor's Street Improvement Program.  This stretch of Glenwood is part of the two phase project of reconstructing Glenwood Street between 60th Ave E and Jean Duluth Road. 

Driving lanes may be reduced to one lane at times, using flaggers to direct traffic.  The project is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting. 

The lower stretch of Glenwood Street between 43rd Ave and 60th Ave is still under construction with completion projected for 2011.  For the remainder of this construction season, paving between 54th Ave and 60th Ave should start later this week. Utility connections and curb and gutter work between 52nd Ave and 54th Ave needs to be completed before paving can start.  The paving work for this stretch is aniticipated to be finished by early November, weather permitting. 

The City of Duluth thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as the City works to repair Glenwood Street and improve accommodations for users consistent with the goal of achieiving Complete Streets.
