Police recover drugs and handgun during execution of search warrant.
On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 12:22 PM, Duluth Police along with members of the Lake Superior Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at an apartment in the area of Lake Avenue and Fourth Street. The apartment is the residence of Roy Milburn Caskey, age 36. During the execution of the search warrant investigators located: 39 grams of Crack Cocaine; 18 grams of Marijuana; drug packaging material; a digital scale; and a handgun.
Caskey was taken into custody and lodged at the Saint Louis County Jail pending formal charges for First Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance, First Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Caskey has a number of controlled substance convictions on his record. In November of 1994 in Hennepin County, Caskey pled guilty to Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance and was placed on three years of probation. In November of 2002 and in Saint Louis County, he pled guilty to Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance and was placed on five years probation. Caskey had his probation in this conviction revoked after pleading guilty to Second Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance in September of 2003, again in Saint Louis County. He was sentenced to 54 months in prison for this Second Degree Possession, and 27 months for the November of 2002 Third Degree Possession probation violation.
The investigation into this incident continues. No further details are available at this time.
