Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration at Duluth City Hall on Monday, October 9, 2023

[Duluth, MN] Please join the City of Duluth in recognition and celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 11:00 am on the steps of Duluth City Hall.

In honor and recognition of the sovereignty, rich history, culture, traditional and contemporary knowledge, art, music, and the countless contributions and service both past and present Indigenous Peoples make to the world.

Everyone is welcome in celebration of Indigenous Peoples and their resilience, rich, vibrant, and thriving diverse contributions.

The event will feature:

-- Opening Ceremony by Community Leaders

-- Honoring Drum and Singers; Youth Leaders; Community Round Dance

-- Red Dress and Orange Shirt Public Art Displays

-- Youth Art Project Table; Jingle Dress; Ribbon Shirts and Skirts

-- Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, 2 Spirit, Relatives, and Every Child Matters

-- Youth-led walk from youth leaders at Harbor City International School

-- Minnesota State Representative Alicia Kozlowski

-- City of Duluth Proclamation: Mayor Emily Larson

-- Honoring the first Indigenous woman elected to the Duluth City Council, the late Renee Van Nett

-- Reading of the Duluth Boarding School resolution previously passed by City Council
