City of Duluth Sustainability Officer Mindy Granley appointed to Governor’s Advisory Council on Climate Change
[DULUTH, MN] Governor Walz’s office announced last Friday its newest appointments to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Climate Change. Among the new appointees is the City of Duluth’s Sustainability Officer, Mindy Granley, whose appointment term to the Council is effective as of November 1 and lasts until April of 2027.
“I’m so excited to serve both the City of Duluth and the State of Minnesota in this new way,” said Granley. “My career and experience have prepared me to successfully help the State lead collaborative climate adaptation and implementation. I’ve worked hard to build trust in our community and beyond as an active participant in regional, State, and Federal climate efforts, and I’m honored to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council to help secure alignment, improve processes, deploy solutions, and assist with government and private sector implementation on climate action.”
The Governor’s Advisory Council on Climate Change identifies opportunities for, and barriers to, the development and effective implementation of policies and strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote climate change resiliency. Granley will serve the Governor’s Advisory Council, which meets four times per year, alongside 15 other state climate change mitigation leaders across the state.
“I’m thrilled both for Mindy and for the State of Minnesota for her involvement on the Council,” said Mayor Emily Larson of the appointment. “The City has already seen huge impacts from Mindy’s work on critical issues related to climate change, and now the State gets to benefit from having such a heavy hitter on the Governor’s Advisory Council. The relationships she’s built and will continue to build through her work on the Council will be complementary to her climate change and climate justice work here in Duluth, as well. The State of Minnesota will be even better positioned to be one of the most impactful states on mitigating the effects of climate change and climate injustice.”
Additional information about the Governor’s Advisory Council on Climate Change can be found on the Secretary of State’s website.
