SUBJECT: Duluth Public Library and Community Partners to Host Information Session on Child Care and Preschool Options in Duluth
BY: Elizabeth Spehar
The Duluth Public is set to host an information session for parents of young children on the topic of local child care and preschool options. The evening will include an open question and answer session with child care providers along with presentations from Parent Aware, The Northland Foundation, St. Louis County Child Care Assistance Program, and ISD709 early childhood programs. Free child care for children over the age of 15 months will be provided onsite.
“We hear over and over again that finding and being able to afford child care in Duluth is a real struggle for parents,” notes Early Literacy Coordinator Carmella Hatch. “As a library, it is our job to connect people with quality, relevant information but we found that we didn’t know the answers to a lot of the questions parents have. So, we reached out to our community partners who do have expertise on the subject and came up with this program to help demystify the process of finding and applying for child care and preschool. There are many stressful aspects of parenting, so we are hoping to alleviate one stressor by helping connect parents to multiple resources in one night.”
For more information and to reserve your child’s spot for free child care, visit https://duluthlibrary.evanced.info/signup/calendar. Registration is only required if you would like to utilize onsite child care. Children under the age of 15 months are welcome to stay with their parents. There are two dates from which to choose. The same information will be shared at each session so it is only necessary to attend one.
