Duluth Police Respond to Report of Stolen Vehicle
At approximately 3:30 p.m., Duluth Police Officers received a report of a stolen vehicle on W Central Entrance. The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was attempted by officers. The vehicle fled, and officers disengaged. A short time later, officers observed the vehicle numerous times, as it remained in the downtown area. No attempts were made to stop the vehicle. At some point, a St Louis County Deputy deployed spike strips, deflating tires. Eventually, a St. Louis County squad attempted to do a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on the vehicle, which was unsuccessful. Shortly after this attempt, the vehicle crashed and hit two vehicles. The driver fled on foot, and was apprehended. The driver of one of the vehicles that was hit received minor injuries. The investigation is still active and ongoing.
