Human Rights Officer Carl Crawford to leave position for new Equity and Inclusion opportunity with Saint Louis County

[DULUTH, MN] City of Duluth Human Rights Officer Carl Crawford will step down from his role at the end of March in order to begin a new Equity and Inclusion Specialist role at Saint Louis County.

“Congratulations to Carl and to Saint Louis County. They couldn’t have selected a better candidate for this role. Nobody can replace a Carl Crawford—he is a leader not just in Duluth but in the state of Minnesota,” said Mayor Roger J. Reinert. “The city and county have a close working relationship, and while this is a real loss to the City of Duluth it is exciting to know that we will have another great county partner just next door.”

Said Crawford of the move, “I really view this career change as less of a change and more of an opportunity to expand the footprint significantly of the equity and inclusion work I’ve been doing for years. I’m excited to be able to make this transition a continuation of and broadening of that work.”

Crawford will remain the City of Duluth’s Human Resources Officer for several more weeks. His first day at the county is April 1.

“This work remains critical to the city,” said Mayor Reinert. “I personally appreciate Carl’s willingness to review the job description, capture ongoing priorities, and assist with recruitment and hiring of a replacement.”
