City of Duluth seeking public comment for proposed Woodland booster station project
[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth is requesting public comment on the potential environmental impact of a proposed booster station project. Comments must be in writing and be received by July 3, 2024 to be considered.
This project is located at the Woodland Booster Station at 3401 E Fourth Street. A new booster station building will be constructed just east of the existing building on the same parcel. The new building will be similar in size and of brick construction. After the new building is completed and fully operational, the existing building will be decommissioned and demolished and the area will be restored and landscaped to compliment the surrounding neighborhood.
The city intends to finance the project with an $8,032,000 low interest loan from the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA). Funds are being requested through the drinking water revolving fund which is administered by the PFA and the Minnesota Department of Health. To receive funds, an environmental review must be conducted in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
Public comments should be sent to Aaron Soderlund, Engineering Division, City Hall Room 240, 411 West First Street, Duluth, 55802. If the city does not receive comments, the city will assume there is no foreseen impact. The City of Duluth thanks its residents for their consideration.
