NATURE OF INCIDENT: Vehicle Prowl Arrest
CASE NO.: 10392906
INCIDENT DATE: 10/23/2010
INCIDENT TIME: 11:55 PM
INCIDENT LOCATION: 400 Block of East #7 Alley

On Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 11:55 PM, a suspicious male was observed in the 400 block of East #7 Alley by a Duluth Police Officer. The male, identified as Tyrone Nicholas St. Germaine, age 22 of Duluth, was holding a car stereo and standing near two vehicles that had their passenger doors open and dome lights on.

Officers checked the two vehicles and found that both had their rear passenger windows broken out and one was missing its stereo.   St. Germaine was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the St. Louis County Jail.

This morning St. Germaine appeared in Sixth Judicial District Court in Duluth.   He was charged with Gross Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle. Bail was set at $1000.00.

Police would also like to remind the public of some basic tips to help prevent vehicle prowls:

  • Keep the interior of your car clean. Never leave valuables, including bags, purses, wallets, briefcases, laptops, cell phones, cameras, loose change or anything that may appear valuable in plain view.
  • Don’t store or leave credit cards, identification or personal information in your glove box or anywhere in your car.
  • If you have to leave valuables in your car, put them in the trunk before you get to your destination.
  • Before leaving your parked car, always remove the keys, roll up the windows, lock the car and set the alarm (if you have one). Keep your keys with you.
  • Park in busy, well lit areas.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the police. One of the most important things you can do is to report all suspicious activity to 9-1-1 and encourage others to do the same.

If you are the victim of a vehicle prowl, or observe a vehicle prowl in progress, call 9-1-1With continued help from citizens, vehicle prowls will go down and police will have a better chance of catching those responsible.
