DPD Arrests Male for 1st Degree Burglary Charges

7:05p.m. UPDATE:

Officers located 47-year-old Leland Lewis, who was uncooperative and armed with a box cutter knife, in a hallway. Officers attempted to give commands to have Lewis surrender peacefully, which were unsuccessful. Officers eventually utilized less lethal options to detain him. No officers were injured during this incident. Lewis was transported by DPD to a local hospital and then was lodged at the St Louis County Jail for pending charges of two counts of 1st Degree Burglary and Felony Obstructing Legal Process.

4:40p.m. ORIGINAL:

Officers were dispatched to a report of an individual who damaged property and gained entrance into an apartment complex on E 2nd St around 3:10 p.m. Currently, officers are actively trying to locate the individual inside the residence by utilizing a drone. We are asking the public to stay away from the area to allow our officers room to work.
