Temporary partial closure of Third Street and Sixth Avenue E intersection beginning Monday
[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth is announcing a partial closure of the intersection of Third Street and Sixth Avenue East starting Monday, September 16 to allow for ongoing construction work at the site. The closure will affect traffic on Third Street and also southbound traffic on Sixth Avenue East. The expected duration of the work is one week but may be extended as necessary.
The closure will include the southbound lanes of Sixth Avenue East between Fourth Street and Second Street, as well as a lane closure on Third Street. Drivers travelling on Third Street should expect one lane of traffic through the intersection.
Drivers are advised, when possible, to seek alternative routes through the area due to other ongoing construction, as traffic delays are likely. Consider utilizing Lake Avenue or approaching the hospital district from the west, using Second Street if possible. Northbound traffic on Sixth Avenue East will remain open but ongoing construction work at a private development may reduce the lanes available. Drivers’ patience is appreciated during the closure period.
