Duluth Workforce Development Board releases 2024-2027 Strategic Workforce Plan

[DULUTH, MN] The Duluth Workforce Development Board’s 28 employer, education, and community stakeholder members announce the completion and launch of the Duluth Workforce Development Board’s 2024-2027 Local and Regional Workforce Development Strategic Plan. The plan lays out a vision as well as goals and strategies to guide public investment and program implementation through our local workforce system.  The plan was developed using labor market data and stakeholder engagement, while aligning with the vision and goals of the state strategic plan.

Additionally, the 123-page strategic plan outlines ways the Northeast Minnesota region is working to advance equity, close workforce participation gaps, and outlines its targeted industry sectors.

“For nearly a year, the Duluth Workforce Development Board has been working in alignment with the Northeast Minnesota Workforce Board, employers, and partners to solidify this strategic plan, and our organization is truly excited to be implementing it in our daily work,” said Duluth Workforce Director Elena Foshay. “The strategic plan really provides us a detailed roadmap of how to best address regional and local workforce needs so that industries have a continuous pipeline of trained workers actively engaged in our region’s economy.”

From employer engagement strategies to outreach strategies aimed at underrepresented populations to career exploration among future workers, the plan aims to build a more equitable, responsive, and work-ready workforce. The workforce board’s strategic plan also provides an outline for regional economic growth and pathways toward family self-sufficiency and carries forward a slate of past best practices for continuation into the future.

Both the plan summary and a full detailed state, regional, and local strategic plan are available for viewing on the Duluth Workforce Development section of the City’s website: https://duluthmn.gov/workforce-development/.
