Duluth Police Respond to Report of Student Hit by Vehicle

At approximately 9 a.m., Thursday, October 10, Duluth Police East High School Resource Officer responded to a report of a 14-year-old student that was struck by a vehicle. Initial investigation shows a student were crossing 40th Avenue East at Luverne Street in the crosswalk when a 14-year-old female student was hit by a vehicle that was turning upbound 40th Ave E. The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries and went home for the day. The driver of the vehicle, a 69-year-old female, was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

DPD wants to remind those traveling around school zones to stay vigilant for pedestrians and be aware of your surroundings.
