Temporary closure and traffic control change for St.  Mary’s/Essentia Demolition Project

 

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth will be temporarily closing a portion of E Fourth Street between N Fourth Avenue East and N Fifth Avenue East for the delivery of a crane on Friday, November 22, 2024. The closure on Fourth Street is expected to last one day.

On Monday, November 25, a portion of Third Street between Third Avenue E and N Fifth Avenue E will be impacted for St. Mary’s Hospital demolition.  Third Street between N Third Avenue E and Fourth Avenue E will be signed for two-way traffic.  Third Street between N Fourth Avenue E and the entrance of Essentia’s Green Ramp will be closed.  Access to the Green Ramp will be open and available from N Fifth Avenue E.

In conjunction with the above closures, N Fourth Avenue E between E Third Street and E Fourth Street will also be closed. The work is expected to take approximately four weeks.

Drivers in this area may experience traffic delays as contractors complete this important work and should remain alert and reduce speeds. The detour route will be posted, and has been shown on the included map.
