City of Duluth Engineering Division provides update on Idaho Street closure in Morgan Park
[DULUTH, MN] On October 4, 2024, the City of Duluth Engineering Division closed the section of Idaho Street that enters into and exits out of the Morgan Park neighborhood due to safety concerns following an annual inspection of the railroad bridge that spans across it. The City of Duluth has been working with the owner of the railroad bridge, Canadian National Railroad, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation to determine the requirements to reopen that section of Idaho Street in Morgan Park. Additional structural analysis is being conducted to determine the current capacity of the bridge and what improvements may be necessary to safely reopen the bridge. The City of Duluth understands this is an inconvenience for the Morgan Park neighborhood and appreciates the patience of the residents. The city will provide additional information as it becomes available.
For residents and deliveries, please continue to use the alternate route in and out of the neighborhood using 88th Avenue W. The 88th Avenue W bridge is signed 10’6” for the concrete bridge arch height at the gutter line. There is more height clearance at the center of the bridge. If you have height concerns, please contact City of Duluth Engineering at (218) 730-5200 to verify dimensions.
