Temporary closure of section of eastbound Superior Street

[DULUTH, MN] Contractor work has resulted in a temporary closure of eastbound Superior Street between First Avenue E and Second Avenue E starting on Wednesday, December 4. This work involves the roadway only and the sidewalk should remain open to all pedestrians, though limited sidewalk disruption can be expected. On-street parking is impacted, and spaces will be limited during this time. The closure will affect eastbound traffic only and a detour is signed at First Avenue E to Michigan Street; the detour will end at Second Avenue E. A temporary all-way stop control will be in place at First Avenue E and Michigan Street. The work period is anticipated to end mid-week next week.

Parking along First Avenue E between Michigan Street and Superior Street will be unavailable during this work period. Parking along Superior Street along the eastbound side of the street (lake side) will also be unavailable between First Avenue E and Second Avenue E. The HART ramp will still be accessible from Superior Street from the westbound direction only.

This closure will be in effect during the daytime hours only, with traffic control being removed during night hours to allow normal night traffic. This closure will create significant traffic delays for HART district commuters. Drivers are advised to avoid the work area when possible and to detour to either First or Second Street to travel around the area.
