Mesaba Fatal Crash - Name Release

Update:

The Duluth Police Department is releasing the name of the bicyclist; 60-year-old Duluth resident Steven Hoover. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of Hoover. 

Original:

At approximately 5 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, Duluth Police responded to a report of a bicyclist that was struck by a vehicle on Mesaba Avenue below West 1st Street. Initial investigation shows the bicyclist, a 60-year-old male, was riding westbound when he went through the crosswalk without checking for oncoming traffic. The male was struck by two vehicles.

The male bicyclist was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The name of the bicyclist will not be released until next of kin is notified. There were no signs of impairment to either driver involved.
