City of Duluth to host public information session regarding upcoming Sixth Avenue East resurfacing and reconfiguration project on January 30

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth will host a public meeting on Thursday, January 30, 2025, to discuss the resurfacing and reconfiguration of the segment of Sixth Avenue East between East Second Street and Mesaba Avenue. The meeting will include details about the project schedule and proposed layout, as well as gather feedback from community members.

 

Meeting Details:

  • Date: Thursday, January 30, 2025
  • Time: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Location: Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 219 N Sixth Avenue E, Duluth, MN

 

Childcare and food will be provided during the meeting by partners at Zeitgeist.

 

Project Overview:


Construction is scheduled for 2025, with funding from the Street Sales Tax Fund. The project will include the following improvements:

  • ADA-compliant pedestrian upgrades
  • Reconfiguration of the roadway from four lanes to three lanes, including a center turn lane
  • Installation of a center median island between Fifth and Ninth Streets
  • Overlay of the existing concrete pavement with asphalt

 

Meeting Format:


A presentation about the project and expected construction impacts will begin at 5:15 PM. After the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to share input on the design in an open house format.
