Contractors working on Essentia’s St. Mary’s building demolition prompt one-day closure of 400 block of East Fourth Street

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] Contractors working to demolish the St. Mary’s hospital site will be closing the 400 block of E. Fourth Street for the day on Thursday, January 30. During this closure, a single lane will be reopened for through traffic to use E. Third Street, which has been closed for demolition operations for the day. After this single-day closure, both lanes of Third Street will close again and the detour on Fourth Street will return. Drivers should note that the current work closing Fifth Avenue East will remain in place.

 

The following detour will be posted:

 

Westbound traffic: Detour at Sixth Avenue E to Third Street, Third Street to Fourth Avenue E, Fourth Avenue E to Fourth Street.

 

Eastbound traffic: Detour at Fourth Avenue E to Second Street, Second Street to Sixth Avenue E, Sixth Avenue E to Fourth Street.

 

Drivers are advised to expect delays travelling in the area around this ongoing demolition and to seek alternative routes to their destination whenever possible.
