Mayor Roger J. Reinert to welcome this year’s Mayor’s Reception Room artists in residence with artists’ reception this Friday
Friday, January 31, 2025| 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm | City Hall, 411 W. First Street | Fourth Floor, Mayor’s Reception Room
[DULUTH, MN] Mayor Roger J. Reinert will announce the selection of year-long artists in residence in the Mayor’s Reception Room at City Hall tomorrow with a reception to showcase landscape photographers Rick Rice and Stephanie Irwin and their respective work. The work is currently hung in the Mayor’s Reception Room and will, as the Mayor’s Artists in Residence, remain through 2025.
The event will begin at 3:00 pm. The public and media are invited to come view the artwork, interact with the artists, and meet new City Administrator Matthew Staehling during the reception until 5:00 PM. Light refreshments will be available.
Stephanie Irwin, a self-taught hobbyist photographer, focuses on landscape and maritime subjects in her body of work. Stephanie’s love of the Great Lakes regardless of weather conditions shines evident in her photography. Stephanie lives in Duluth and is a full-time gastroenterologist at Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center.
Rick Rice, a long-time Duluthian, developed a love of the region’s natural beauty and uses it as his muse in his landscape photography. Subjects that frequent Rice’s body of work are sunrises and sunsets, the aurora borealis, and the Northland’s vast landscapes. Rick uses his photography to capture our region’s essence and communicate the awe it inspires in him to his audience.
