City of Duluth celebrates National Community Development Week April 21-25

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth ‘s Planning and Economic Development Department is celebrating National Community Development Week April 21 to April 25. Created in 1986, National Community Development Week’s goal is to bring national attention to the Community Development Block Grant, or CDBG, program through grassroots support. The week provides education on the importance of both the CDBG program and the Home Investment Partnerships, or HOME, program, as well as their local impact and need.

The impact of CDBG in Duluth is huge. Not only does Duluth receive about $3 million annually, but these funds also leverage an average of $25 million additional funds from other sources each year. These funds are spent on our neighbors and neighborhoods via a variety of local agencies, such as AICHO, Chum, HRA, Soar, Life House, Center City Housing Corp, Community Action Duluth, MACV, Eco3, The Salvation Army, One Roof Community Housing, family Rise Together, and more, to provide community investment in affordable housing, infrastructure, public health, food access, and more.

The City of Duluth’s Planning and Economic Development Department will share via the City of Duluth Facebook and Instagram pages over the week posts celebrating the successes of the CDBG and HOME program and their impacts on the Duluth community. Residents can also learn more about National Community Development Week on the City of Duluth's website at https://duluthmn.gov/planning-development/community-development/cd-week-2025/.
