UPDATE - Involved in Thursday, July 25, 2024 Fire Formally Charged
As a result of a lengthy police investigation and working in cooperation with the County Attorney's Office, charges were formally brought against 25-year-old Tyler Walter Edwards for 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Arson, and False Name to Police. These charges stem from the circumstances surrounding the death of 25-year-old Maxton Gudowski, whose body was discovered inside of a residence involved in a structure fire on Thursday, July 25, 2024, in the 600 block of North 47th Avenue East. Edwards remains in custody since his arrest on September 1st, 2024.
Great work to our Investigative Division for continuing to pursue these charges and hold Edwards accountable. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Gudowski family and friends.
Duluth Police Arrest Individual Involved in Thursday, July 25 Fire
On Sunday, September 1, Duluth Police arrested 25-year-old Tyler Edwards for pending charges of 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Interference with a Dead Body.
This is after DPD determined and investigated the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of 25-year-old Maxton Gudowski, who died in the structure fire that occurred on Thursday, July 25 in the 600 block of N 47th Ave E.

Duluth Police Investigate Thursday, July 25 Fire
After further investigation into the structure fire that occurred on Thursday, July 25, in the 600 block of N 47th Ave E., Duluth Police have determined there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of 25-year-old Maxton Gudowski.
DPD sends our condolences to the Gudowski family and his loved ones as they are grieving the loss of Maxton.
