The Duluth Police Department, along with the UMD Police Department, conducted enhanced DWI enforcement over the Halloween weekend.
Officers from the two agencies that were assigned to the enhanced enforcement made 48 driver contacts over the weekend resulting in four arrests for DWI. Additionally, one driver was arrested for Driving after Cancellation; two were cited for Driving after Revocation, two cited for Speed, two for Seat Belt violations, and two for disobeying a Stop Sign/Light. Officers also gave out 33 warnings.
Duluth Police also released the results of the “October Click It or Ticket” campaign, which ran from October 8th through October 28th. During that time period, Duluth Police issued 113 citations for Seat Belt violations and one citation for a child seat use violation.
With the help of the local media and increased public awareness, the local October “Click It or Ticket” campaign and the Halloween enhanced DWI enforcement were successful.
