City of Duluth’s chip sealing work begins Monday, July 14 in various locations

[DULUTH, MN] A City of Duluth contractor will begin chip sealing work on streets in various locations on Monday, July 14. Chip-sealing operations will occur on the indicated streets, and there may be traffic control signs and flaggers directing traffic. No-parking notices will be posted in advance of this work. Work is expected to be completed in just one day, weather permitting.

Chip sealing seals pavement surfaces, protecting the pavement from the destructive effects of sun and water. It increases skid resistance, and fills small cracks and surface flaws, extending the life of the pavement by several years.

Locations for chip-sealing operations are as follows:

  • Lawn Street (Boundary Ave to 87th Avenue W)
  • Meadow Street (Boundary Avenue to Midway Avenue)
  • Brook Street (Boundary Avenue to Midway Avenue)
  • Midway Avenue (Vinland Street to Lawn Street)
  • Raleigh Street (MN 23 to 59th Avenue W)
  • 131st Avenue W (MN 23 to end of pavement)
  • Water Street (MN 23 to end of pavement)
  • Rustwood Lane (Old Howard Mill Road to Valley Drive)
  • Old Howard Mill Road (36th Avenue E to Rustwood Lane)
  • Crescent View Avenue (37th Avenue E to Pinewood Lane)
  • Seventh Street (13th Avenue E to 14th Avenue E)
  • Como Avenue (Willow Street to end of street)
  • Gilead Street (Arlington Avenue to Blackman Avenue)
  • Locust Street (Arlington Avenue to Blackman Avenue)

The City of Duluth thanks pedestrians and drivers for their patience during this construction season.
