The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire at 3:47AM on 7/15. Units from West Duluth, Lincoln Park and Downtown stations responded. Prior to arrival there were reports from the homeowners and a Duluth Police Officer of a smell of smoke in the house and smoke coming from the roof. 8 Station arrived and found light smoke coming from the roof of the building. Crews moved to the attic and found fire in the attic space of the home. Crews advanced a hoseline to the attic and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews then spent approximately 3 hours opening up the attic space and removing insulation to ensure all of the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported and all occupants exited the home on their own. The cause of the fire is under investigation and damages are estimated between $10,000 and $15,000.
The Duluth Fire Department would like to thank our partners at St. Louis County Dispatch and the Duluth Police Department for their assistance.
