Structure Fire on 1700 block of E First Street

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] Duluth Fire Department responded at 9:12 AM  on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 to a report of a structure fire on the 1700 block of E. First Street. Crews from Downtown, Woodland, UMD, Lakeside, and Duluth Heights responded to a fire with heavy smoke inside a single room of one unit of a multifamily housing complex. Residents all safely evacuated the structure without incident.

 

No injuries were reported in the incident. Unfortunately, two cats on scene were found perished due to smoke inhalation. Damage to the single room and contents is estimated at $100K. One resident is displaced at this time. The incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office. .
