City of Duluth to host informational open house event for upcoming Palm Street Smart Pond stormwater infrastructure project
[DULUTH, MN] City of Duluth Public Works and Utilities is holding an informational open house meeting for the public on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The meeting will be held at First United Methodist Church (aka The Coppertop Church), located at 230 E Skyline Parkway in Duluth.
Information regarding the Palm Street Smart Pond stormwater infrastructure enhancement project will be shared with the public and project staff will be available to answer questions related to the upcoming work.
The Palm Street Smart Pond project includes the reconstruction of an existing stormwater pond near the intersection of Palm Street and Blackman Avenue. The project will enhance stormwater treatment, improve water quality, increase pond capacity, and reduce flood risk downstream on Brewery Creek, which flows through the Central Hillside neighborhood. Funding for the project is provided by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Implementation Grants for Stormwater Resilience and the City of Duluth Stormwater Utility Fund. The project is planned to begin construction in early 2026.
