Male Arrested After Shooting Incident

At approximately 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, Duluth Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of North 57th Avenue West. Initial information is a male, later identified as 36-year-old Demetrius Norwood, went to the address, discharged his firearm at a known occupant inside a vehicle, and fled the scene in his vehicle. The occupant of the vehicle wasn’t injured.

Upon officer arrival, Norwood returned to the scene and rammed two squad cars with his vehicle, one squad had a K9 inside. No officers or the K9 were injured during this incident.

Officers arrested Norwood for pending charges of 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and more.

Norwood is a known individual to the Duluth Police Department and has an extensive criminal history.
