Male Arrested for Homicide that Occurred in October 2025

On January 8, 2026, the Duluth Police Department arrested 32-year-old Branden King for pending charges of 2nd Degree Homicide. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Chazz Toney as they are greiving his loss. 

Update: Homicide Investigation

10.14.25 Update: The male victim has been identified as 35-year-old Chazz Toney. No arrests have been made and this remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Homicide Investigation

Original: On 10/10/25, at 12:25am officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting in the 200 block of West 3rd Street.  Officers arrived on scene and found a male who was deceased from an apparent gun shot wound. We are currently working on identifying the male victim. We have no additional information to release at this time as we are in the early stages of this active and ongoing investigation. 

We are asking for people living in this area to check their surveillance camera systems. If you have any information related to this event, you are asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 218-730-5050
