City of Duluth to close a portion of Michigan Street beginning October 15, 2025

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth will close a portion of Michigan Street near Mesaba Avenue beginning October 15. Contractors will replace communications lines in preparation for the MNDOT pedestrian bridge replacement project. This work will close Michigan Street between Glen Place and Mesaba Ave (MN 194) for the duration of the work period. Work will begin Wednesday, October 15 and should last one week.

 

The detour routes are as follows:

 

Eastbound (toward downtown): Superior Street > Piedmont Avenue > First Street > Mesaba Avenue

 

Westbound (toward Lincoln Park): Superior Street > Sixth Avenue W > First Street> Piedmont Ave > Superior Street > Michigan Street

 

 

Drivers should expect delays and should consider alternative routes to get from downtown to Lincoln Park, including using Railroad Street or I-35.
