Duluth Man Sentenced to 142 Month in Prison
A Duluth man has been sentenced to 142 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
According to court documents, Byron Terrell Robinson, 44, was driving on Interstate 35 from Minneapolis to Duluth on July 23, 2024. Prior to that date, investigators observed Robinson engage in suspected narcotics sales in Duluth. Investigators with the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force obtained a search warrant for Robinson, his vehicle, and his Duluth apartment. In Robinson’s vehicle, officers found approximately 220 grams of fentanyl and approximately 2,168 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside a speaker. Additional drug packaging material was found inside Robinson’s apartment. Robinson admitted that he intended to sell these drugs to other persons in the Twin Ports community.
Robinson was sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court before Judge Donovan W. Frank on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. In handing down the sentence, Judge Frank noted that the lengthy sentence was due in part to the harm that Robinson’s drug dealing did to the Twin Ports community.
This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force, the Duluth Police Department, and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Nichole Carter prosecuted the case.
