City of Duluth to add surcharge to some credit card transactions beginning January 2026
[DULUTH, MN] Beginning January 5, 2026, the City of Duluth will add a non-refundable surcharge of 3.5%, with a minimum surcharge of $2.50, to all credit card payments for City of Duluth licensing, permit, code enforcement, and enterprise transactions.
Residents and customers will also have the option to pay with an e-check for a $1.95 flat fee. As always, cash and check will also still be accepted when paying in-person.
The City of Duluth regrets any inconvenience this surcharge may cause customers. The rising cost of credit card processing requires the implementation of this surcharge.
This surcharge will not apply to Comfort Systems payments or parking ticket payments at this time.
