City of Duluth to host public open house regarding upcoming Fourth Street reconstruction project on Thursday, January 15, 2026

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth is inviting the community to an open house on Thursday, January 15, 2026 regarding the reconstruction of Fourth Street between Mesaba Avenue and Sixth Avenue E. This open house is intended to introduce the project to the community and begin to gather feedback about how the corridor is used and what opportunities may exist to improve it.

The City of Duluth will host this open house on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Central Hillside Community Center (12 E Fourth Street, Duluth).

Project design and engineering will occur through 2027, with construction scheduled to take place from 2028 to 2029. Funding for this project will come from Municipal State Aid for Streets and utility funds.

The scope of work for the project includes:

• Full reconstruction of the roadway and utilities.
• Traffic signal study and recommendations.
• Stormwater drainage and infrastructure improvements.
• Street lighting replacement and improvement.

• Pedestrian improvements.
• Multimodal improvements for cyclists and other lightweight human-powered and electric-powered devices.

There will not be a formal presentation during this open house. Community members are invited to attend at any time that is convenient for them. City staff and the design team will be available to discuss the project and gather feedback throughout the meeting.
