Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force Disrupts Drug Trafficking Operation Targeting the Northland

The Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF), in collaboration with numerous local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, has conducted an extensive investigation targeting members and associates of the Black P Stone street gang operating in the Duluth/Superior area. These individuals are responsible for bringing large quantities of illegal narcotics and violence into the city and surrounding communities.

Investigators first became aware of individuals involved in this criminal conspiracy in May 2023. As the investigation progressed, task force members identified higher-level suspects who were not only distributing controlled substances, but who also used violence, threats of violence, and coercion to secure cooperation from others involved in their drug distribution enterprise. These individuals victimized members of the community and continued to provide an influx of drugs and associated violence throughout the region.

What began as an investigation into localized drug activity and firearm related violence, ultimately led investigators to larger, higher-level targets who posed a significant threat to public safety. Many of these individuals have been linked to the Black P Stone street gang out of Harvey, IL.

This investigation required tireless dedication, professionalism, and highest level of investigative skill and expertise from task force members. Investigators devoted extensive time to this case, often sacrificing time away from their families to ensure a thorough and successful investigation.

Through collaborative efforts and partnerships, law enforcement was able to disrupt the source of supply, significantly impacting the availability of illegal drugs in the community and enhancing public safety.
