SUBJECT: Male Arrested after Armed Robbery of Cab Driver

INCIDENT LOCATION: 200 Block of North First Avenue West

On Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 at 3:02 AM, Duluth Police responded to the 200 Block of North First Avenue West to investigate the report of an Allied Taxicab driver being robbed at gunpoint by a lone male. The suspect had fled on foot with the undisclosed amount of money. 
 
Officers located a male matching the suspect’s description at a residence in the 100 Block of West First Street. The male, Anthony Christopher Weems, age 25 of Duluth, was identified by the victim as the suspect in the robbery. Evidence of the robbery, including the handgun, was located at the residence.
 
Weems was lodged at the St. Louis County Jail pending formal charges for First Degree Aggravated Robbery and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. At the time of his arrest, Weems was serving two years of probation for a September 2010 domestic assault incident.  Weems was placed on two years probation for Felony Terroristic Threats on November 5th for that incident.
 
The investigation into the robbery is ongoing by Duluth Police Department Violent Crimes Unit; no further information is available at this time.
