INCIDENT TIME: 2:46 AM
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2831 West Superior Street

The Duluth Police Department and Duluth Fire Department are asking for the public’s assistance with information about Monday morning’s fire that resulted in the total loss of the Peerless Auto Repair building.

On Monday, December 27th, 2010 at 2:46 a.m., the Duluth Fire Department and Duluth Police Department responded to a structure fire at 2831 West Superior Street. Thick smoke was coming from the building and shortly afterwards the building was fully engulfed.

Officers responding to the fire came upon an abandoned but running vehicle in the intersection of 29th Avenue West and First Street. It was later determined that this vehicle had been taken from inside of the Peerless building.

A 25 year old Duluth male was located in the area a short time later. In his possession was a check made out to Peerless Auto Repair. The male had an outstanding Failure to Appear Theft Warrant in St. Louis County. The male was taken into custody on the warrant.

The investigation into the burglary and fire is ongoing by Duluth Police and Duluth Fire.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Duluth Police Department Arson Investigator Todd Kuusisto at (218) 730-5709
