INCIDENT LOCATION: Getchell Road North of St. Louis River Road
Duluth Police have identified the victim of Friday’s fatal crash as 41 year old Wayne Allen Mullens of Duluth.
Mullens was driving his 2000 Ford Focus southbound on Getchell Road when he collided with a northbound 2002 Jeep Liberty that had lost control and crossed over into Mullens lane. Mullens was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, Christopher David Bombeck, age 21 of White Bear Lake, was treated at Essentia Medical St. Mary’s Medical Center for a minor leg injury.
The crash was reported on Friday, December 31st, 2010 at 2:44 PM, and occurred on the Getchell Road just north of the St. Louis River Road. The vehicles came to rest in the ditch after the crash. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing by Duluth Police Department Crash Investigation Unit. No further details are available at this time.
