INCIDENT LOCATION: 40th Avenue & McCulloch

 
At 10:52 pm on Saturday January 22nd, 2011 Duluth Police Officers were called to an address near 40th Ave. E. & McCulloch Street in reference to a male who was on the caller’s porch saying that that he had been shot in the stomach. 
 
The first officer on scene confirmed that a male Duluth resident, 34 years old had a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The male said that he was shot trying to intervene in a domestic that occurred nearby inside of a vehicle between people he did not know.
 
The male was transported to a local hospital and had to undergo surgery. He is now in stable condition.
 
After a search of the area officers did not locate a crime scene. A weapon they believed was used to cause the injury was located in the snow in a wooded area nearby.  
 
 The investigation is continuing. At this time the Duluth Police Department wants to advise the public that they are not at risk.
