INCIDENT LOCATION: 40th Ave. E. & McCulloch St.

Update on the report of a shooting victim near 40th Avenue E. & McCulloch St. The alleged victim in the shooting has been charged with 3 Felonies.

At 10:52pm on Saturday January 22nd, 2011 Duluth Police Officers responded to an address near 40th Avenue E. & McCulloch St. in reference to a male who was on the caller’s porch saying that he had just been shot in the stomach. The male was identified as Alcide Thomas Cloutier a 34 year old, Duluth resident.

The first officer on the scene confirmed that Cloutier had a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Cloutier told officers that he was shot trying to intervene in a domestic assault that had occurred nearby inside of a vehicle between people he did not know.

The investigation found inconsistencies with evidence at the scene and with the statement given by Cloutier.  There was significant evidence to believe that the wound was self-inflicted. The Duluth Police Department is not seeking any other suspects or individuals in this matter.  Cloutier has been formally charged by the St. Louis County Attorneys Office with 2 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm as well as Reckless Discharge of a Firearm within a Municipality.
